Hi! What can I do for you?

How to distinguish genuine leather from PU leather?

Release time: 2024-10-21 03:18:50

1. Touch: Touch the leather surface with your hands. If it feels smooth, soft, plump and elastic, it is genuine leather; while the surface of general artificial synthetic leather is astringent, rigid and has poor softness. Press the leather surface with your fingers. There are no obvious pores and wrinkles. If there are wrinkles after pressing, they will not disappear naturally.

2. Look: Genuine leather has clearer pores and patterns, yellow cowhide has more uniform fine pores, yak leather has coarser and sparse pores, and goat leather has fish scale-like pores. Whether there are pores on the leather surface is an important feature for distinguishing the authenticity of leather.

3. Smell: All genuine leather has the smell of leather; while artificial leather has a strong irritating plastic smell.

4. Lighting is to tear off a little fiber from the back of real leather and artificial leather. After lighting, any leather that emits a snipping smell and forms lumps is artificial leather; any leather that emits a skin smell and does not form hard lumps is lumpy leather. The lower corners burn and have a smell, but it is not the burnt smell of the face.

5. Use water to verify the real leather: the surface of the real leather has good water absorption, while the fake leather is just the opposite, with good water resistance. You can use your fingers to dip some water and wipe it on the surface of the clothes to observe its water absorption. If it has good water absorption, it is real leather. If it has poor water absorption or does not absorb water at all, most of them are fake leather.

Characteristics of PU and artificial leather:

1. High strength, thin and elastic, soft and smooth, good air permeability and water permeability, and waterproof.

2. Still has good tensile strength and flexural strength at low temperature, good light aging resistance and hydrolysis stability.

3. Super wear-resistant, appearance and performance are close to natural leather, easy to wash and decontaminate, easy to sew.

4. The surface is smooth and tight, and can be subjected to a variety of surface treatments and dyeing, with a variety of varieties.

Daily care of genuine leather

1. After long-term contact with the outside world, the leather will produce moisture inside. It should be placed in a ventilated place to dry frequently to prevent bacteria from growing. It can also be stored with an appropriate amount of moisture-proof beads.

2. If the leather is accidentally damp, use a dry cloth to absorb the moisture, and then place it in a ventilated and cool place to dry naturally. Do not expose it to the sun or dry it with a hair dryer to avoid explosion, deformation and hardening.

3. Genuine leather should not be placed in an environment with too high or too low temperature or too high humidity, otherwise it will be easily worn out.

4. When cleaning genuine leather, do not rinse it with water or wipe it with chemical reagents. Use cotton cloth and a soft brush to wipe it.
